Women's Weekend
Walker Baptist Church, 10696 Florida Blvd., Walker. will hold their 14th Annual Women's Weekend, "Victoriously Frazzled: Finding Victory through the Cross," on March 5 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and March 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Cindi Wood, author of "Victoriously Frazzled." A $15 registration fee is due by Feb. 28 or $20 at the door. The fee includes a Friday supper and Saturday pastries and luncheon. Child care and activities are provided. Pioneer Day
The Second Annual Pioneer Day and Sidewalk Sale in the Denham Springs Antiques Village will be held March 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mattie Street will be closed to traffic for demostrations and displays of quilting in Old City Hall, cracklin' cooking, carving of wooden dugout piroques, soap and candle making, ice cream making, wood carvings and antique tools and more. WOW Benefit
WOW, Women Outreaching Women, will hold a benefit at Holmes Building Materials, located at 1102 Florida Blvd., Denham Springs. Building supplies and jambalaya will be sold. Holmes Building Materials will match funds raised at the benefit. WOW is raising money to reopen their battered women's shelter for women and their children fleeing domestic violence. Women's Expo in Watson
Women's Expo will be held from 4pm till 6 or so, at Down Home grill on Hwy 16 in Watson. There will be a lot of small business owners from around town showing off what their businesses are about. Gospel Concert

Teen Career Expo
Teens are invited to the Denham Springs-Walker Branch Library's free Teen Career Expo at 6 p.m. Rather than attend formal lectures about the advantages of each career path, teens will have a chance to browse different options and talk to individuals engaged in at least fourteen different professions. Professionals will be bringing demonstrations and their "tools of the trade." Teens may wish to bring a pen or pencil. This event is aimed at people ages 12-18, but younger people and adults are welcome.

Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration for Livingston Parish Public Schools will be held on the following dates and times for the month of March: Denham Springs Elementary, March 12 from 9 a.m. to noon: and South Walker Elementary, March 19 from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration for Southfork Elementary will be held at South Walker Elementary on March 19 from 9 a.m. to noon. Parents must bring a certified birth certificate, social securtiy card, complete immunization record, and four proof's of residence to register their child. Children must turn five years old before Sept. 30, 2010.

Skeet Shoot
The Denham Springs Fire Department Local 3351 of the International Association of Firefighters is putting on a skeet shoot on March 13 at Riverside Sporting Clays in Denham Springs. The money will be donated to St. Jude and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Participants are needed for the event.

Trash Bash
A Trash Bash will be held from 8 a.m. to noon. Those participating will meet in the parking lot across from New City Hall. It will be sponsored by the Keep Livingston Beautiful in partnership with the Denham Springs Garden Club and the City of Denham Springs in the preparation for the Cleanest City Contest. Grabbers and trash bags will be provided. The public is invited.

 

Jambalaya Cook-off
The Second Annual Jambalaya Cook-off will be at Colyell Ball Park. Free Jambalaya for all who attend. No entry fee. First, second and third place trophies will be awarded. To participate in the cook-off, call 698-6673 or 323-1415.

Benefit Trail Ride

Relay for Life of Denham Springs
Team Captain Meeting Set
 
DENHAM SPRINGS -  The upcoming Relay is set for April 30th at Denham Springs High School.  The event will be a slumber party this year celebrating the American Cancer Society's efforts to fight for more birthdays as they strive to eliminate cancer.  Committee members encourage everyone to begin organizing a team now.  To register a Relay team log on to www.relayforlife.org/denhamsprings or contact Relay Chairman Brian Verrette at blverrette08@cox.net or 278-1029.   This year's Relay for Life goal is $60,000 with money raised supporting the American Cancer Society's efforts to eliminate cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.
