Principals Named
To New Livingston Parish Schools
The Livingston Parish School Board recently approved the appointment of three new principals to take the leadership posts at three new schools scheduled to open in August 2010.

William Frizell, an assistant principal at Denham Springs High School, has been appointed principal of the new Juban Parc Junior High School in the Denham Springs School District. Frizell has worked at Denham Springs High School for the past two years. He also has worked as an administrative assistant at Southside Junior High and a teacher at Westside Junior High School for a total of 11 ½ years in the Livingston Parish School System.

Katheryn Blackwell, the current principal designee at Eastside Elementary School, has been named principal of the new Juban Parc Elementary in the Denham Springs School District. Blackwell has served as an administrator at Eastside Elementary since 1997. Prior to that, she taught at Southside Elementary for 14 years. She also worked three years as a teacher in Jefferson Parish, bringing her total educational work experience to 29 ½ years.

Allison Raborn, the current principal at Walker Elementary, will become principal of the new South Fork Elementary in the Walker School District. Raborn has worked as an administrator at Walker Elementary for the past six years. Before that appointment, she taught at South Walker Elementary, Walker Upper Elementary, Holden School, Springfield Middle School and Hammond Eastside Upper in Tangipahoa Parish. Raborn has 20 years total educational experience.
All three appointments become effective July 1 of this year.
Superintendent Bill Spear said the new principals appointees will begin working with central office administrators right away to determine faculty and staff needs at their respective schools.
"We are very fortunate to have such qualified administrators in our system who can move into these new positions and take on the task of getting a new school up and running," Spear said.
Spear noted that the school board has also begun advertising for candidates to replace the positions vacated by three appointed administrators.
Protecting You, Protecting Me

Protecting You/Protecting Me is MADD's latest nationwide effort to prevent alcohol use by youth. It was created in response to a need for materials to help reach children before they have fully shaped their attitudes and opinions about youth alcohol use. Research shows that the risk of alcohol and other drug use skyrockets when children enter grade 6, between the ages of 12 and 13. To be effective in preventing alcohol use by adolescents, we must reach out and educate children in grades 1 - 5.

Students at Denham Springs Elementary are being taught the PY/PM program by Denham Springs High School Junior and Senior members of JADD.
